Story:
Mahavir Singh Phogat (Aamir Khan) is a former amateur wrestler and national champion based in Balali, a village in Haryana. He was forced to leave the sport by his father in order to gain gainful employment. Frustrated that he could not win a medal for his country, he vowed that he would have an unborn son. Disappointed at having four daughters, he gave up hope. But when his elder daughters Geeta and Babita come home after beating up the two boys in response to derogatory remarks, he realizes their potential to become a wrestler and starts coaching them.
