Story:
Michael Kovac (Colin O’Donaghue), the son of a funeral director, becomes indifferent to his father and joins a seminary. On his way to complete the course, he is overwhelmed by a severe lack of faith. His religious beliefs take a further blow when he sees a young girl helplessly dying in a road accident, to which he reluctantly performs rituals to wash away her sins. His mentor still believes in him and urges him to go to Italy to take an exorcism course, hoping it will strengthen his faith in Christianity. In Italy, he attends a session with Father Xavier (Ciaran Hinds), who soon becomes aware of his suspicions. As a result, he sends her to a noted Jesuit exorcist, Father Lucas Tresvant (Sir Anthony Hopkins), whose methods, although questionable, are quite effective. He witnesses the exorcism of a sixteen-year-old girl, but still seems unconnected.
